I’m writing to you from the snowy slopes of Lake Tahoe! Actually, this is a timed post that is set to be published while I’m in Tahoe snowboarding with 10 of my buddies for my Bachelor Party, but I wanted to write this ahead of time to make sure I kept the blog rolling, even while I’m away.
As you may or may not know, I’ve been seeing a personal trainer for the last 2 months. I hired David (from my local 24-hour fitness club) because I noticed that I was getting really out of shape – mainly from sitting in front of my computer, a poor diet and a lack of motivation. Because my income is primarily passive income, I now have the free time to get in shape again.
Measured Again
I’ve been keeping track of my stats since I started back on November 21st, 2008. I was finally measured again for the third time today. Here is a spreadsheet of my progress:

Dave was actually very impressed and said that all of my hard work is starting to pay off. It didn’t seem like it at first, with all of the visits to the gym, the hard workouts and the sore muscles, but I can really tell a difference in how I feel and how I look. It’s a good sign when you’re gaining weight but losing body fat.
This is kind of like working towards earning a passive income. It takes a lot of hard work, and you don’t see results right away, but in due time – it will pay off. The hardest part is staying motivated to keep going, something that I know I needed Dave to provide me. I’m hoping that maybe me, or someone else you know, or even an author you like has inspired you and is keeping you motivated to work on new ideas and earn more money.
A Cool iPhone Application
To go along with my iPhone application idea, I decided to purchase an iPhone. It’s funny because I’ve been debating which smart phone to buy for the last 6 months now, but knowing I’ll be making iPhone apps helped me decide.
There’s a cool application I downloaded called “Lose It!”. When opened, I can log all of the food I eat every day, and it keeps track of calories and all other nutritional stats that you’d normally find on the side of a cereal box. You can also add exercises, which subtraction from your daily calorie intake. It’s pretty amazing, and I’ve been keeping track of my food intake each day. It’s mainly for helping people lose weight, but I’m using it to gain weight – I just have to make sure I exceed a normal calorie intake for someone my age and weight, as well as stock up on muscle making items like protein. Very cool.
Anyways, I hope all is well with you. I’ll be back in a few days, but still – comments are very welcome!

Great analogy, Pat. Getting fit and working on passive income are both dependent on putting in the work on a regular basis. Nothing romantic, just making yourself do it. Do you realize that you are our “Dave”? Pat, the “Passive income personal trainer”. Not bad, thanks for the encouragement and motivation.

Pat,
I worked with a trainer for a while until I learned enough to train myself. They can be such good motivators and educators if you find a good one!
