AskPat 1000 Episode Transcript
Pat Flynn: Hey, what's up everybody? Pat Flynn here. Welcome to Episode 1000 of AskPat.
Thank you. No, thank you. Guys, it's been an incredible journey. Thank you so much. We've done so many episodes here over the last three years. I'm happy to say that the podcast is going to continue. Yeah, yeah, we're going to continue . . . But we're going to continue in a different way.
That's right. Now I don't want you to be scared. I'm going to tell you the story behind this. You see, since February of 2014 I've been answering questions here five days a week on AskPat. It's been one of my favorite things to do. I've created an amazing system to be able to answer these questions; my team and I have worked together. Little did we know that we would get to Episode 1000 so quickly, though obviously we could calculate that.
But anyway, it's been an amazing journey. Over 1,000 questions answered, or 999, and 4,000 questions submitted from people like you. I want to thank each and every one of you who has listened to the show, and especially those who had asked questions, because this show wouldn't exist without you, the audience, those who are asking me questions that I can answer.
But I have noticed that since 2014, and especially getting up to nearly 1,000 questions answered—especially over the last year I've been noticing that a lot of the questions that are coming in are rather the same. Even a few people who have been listening to the show have been commenting about how some of the questions are essentially the same as others, just wrapped around different people, different experiences, but essentially tackling the same things. I've noticed that too. That's what made it a little bit difficult to find new questions to answer, because a lot of the questions are the same. But I also am encouraged by that, because that means maybe there's a finite amount of questions that I need to answer in order to best help everybody.
But I've also noticed that I've been wanting more, meaning when I have these answers to people's questions, when I listen to the voicemail questions that are coming in, and I answer them, I'm always wanting to ask questions back. To actually have real conversations with those people and not just answer those first questions but ask more questions to them, and have them ask for clarification so we can go back and forth and determine the root of what is a lot of these problems, especially with questions related specifically to a lot of the mental aspects that come with building a business and becoming an entrepreneur. Hopefully you all know by now the importance of how you think related to what actually happens, and also the idea of just doing and busting through that fear like we've talked about in so many episodes in the past.
So I wanted to give you information about what's coming next. I'm happy to introduce to you the ideas behind AskPat 2.0. Instead of just answering a voicemail question that comes in, I'm going to be having real live conversations with people who are getting their businesses up and running, who have been running their businesses for a while, who need some help.
These are essentially going to become coaching calls that you're going to be able to listen in on. And yes, I'm going to tell you at the end of this episode how you might be able to qualify to become one of these people who I would interview on this show. I've actually tested this before. I've tested this a couple times on my other show, Smart Passive Income, and it's had one of the highest response rates in terms of comments and also emails back, in terms of people saying they love that kind of episode. So I decided to combine that with this new leg of AskPat and have a show where we now have actual real live conversations. It's not just one question that I'm answering but it's one person that I'm helping, likely though a series of questions and back and forth. The idea of this is to match the phrase of the year for 2018 for me, and that is Higher Value. Everything that I'm doing next year on Smart Passive Income, here on AskPat, on the SPI podcast, on the blog, on the video channels, it's all about giving you higher value. That's what this is about.
Here's how the episode is going to change from what it's been the first 1000 episodes. It's going to be a little bit longer. It's going to be between twenty to thirty minutes in length. It's not going to be quite as extensive a coaching call in terms of length, as opposed to if somebody would have hired me, for example. And because there's so much more depth in these episodes, I'm guaranteeing that you're going to be able to learn a lot more and be able to relate to these situations a lot better, than these simple questions and answers that I've been giving.
Now, because this is a more higher-produced kind of show, it's only going to be one day a week. For now we're going to start with that. We're going to see if we can ramp it up, but again it's just testing it out. We'll see what happens. We'll see. But I just wanted to pass that to you and that is the major announcement that I wanted to share.
So please, if you haven't subscribed to AskPat yet, make sure you subscribe. What we're going to do is we're going to take a couple months off, because I'm going to be collecting these applications. I'm going to be interviewing and coaching a number of people. It's going to take a couple months to ramp up a nice production flow and get into the rhythm where we can then deliver this value to you come February of 2018. We're going to take a little bit of a break, but please don't go anywhere. We're going to make a big launch announcement, we're going to have some contests and other things going on when Episode 1001 comes out. Just make sure you follow the blog and make sure you follow me on Instagram and Twitter @PatFlynn. You're going to hear more announcements about this new AskPat 2.0 come February of 2018.
Now if you want to potentially become one of these students on these coaching calls here on AskPat, all you have to do is go to AskPat.com and you'll see a button next to the player there, or somewhere on that page. Again, AskPat.com, where you're going to then fill out a few forms to tell me a little bit about yourself, your situation, what you need help with. I and my team are going to select from those applications. From there we'll make it happen, we'll reach out to you if you're selected, and will plan a date to get on a coaching call together. I'll help you out and we'll help everybody else out to. It'll be a lot of fun. Again, AskPat.com is where you go to sign up for that and to see if you can be selected. I'm not going to be able to select everybody, I'm sure. We're going to be very, very clear upfront that yes, when we do these coaching calls there's a chance that they will be published publicly for everybody, so you have to keep that in mind as well.
There you go. Guys, it's been an amazing run and we are just getting started with what we can do with this format. I'm excited. I'm a little bit nervous, but I also know that this is going to help me hone in on my coaching skills too and it's going to help you hone in on, perhaps your own coaching skills, because you're going to see how I do it. You're also going to learn from these people who are gracious enough to offer their time and their struggles to everybody. We can all work together to make things happen.
Guys, make sure you subscribe if you haven't already. Thank you so much for helping me get to Episode 1000. Here's to the next thousand episodes. We'll see. This may go and become such an even bigger well-oiled machine that it might turn into a daily show again. We'll see. Or it may go back to how it was. Again, you never know unless you try. That's the big lesson in the first 1000 episodes. You must take action to learn.
You can learn all you want from reading books and listening to podcasts, but really the number one way to figure out if things are going to work for you is to try to do, to execute and then from there to learn what works, to do more of that. What doesn't? Learn from that situation so you can perform better the next time around. That's what we're doing here.
Guys, thank you so much. I appreciate you. I look forward to the next segment with you in February of 2018. Please subscribe. Take care now. Bye.
