AskPat 826 Episode Transcript
Pat Flynn: Hey, what's up everybody? Pat Flynn here, and welcome to Episode 826 of AskPat. Thank you so much for joining me today. As always, I'm here to help you by answering your online business questions five days a week.
We have a great question today from Vitaliy, but before we get to his question, I do want to thank today's sponsor which is FreshBooks. One of my favorite companies because they're helping me and millions of other small businesses manage our business finances. With tax season coming up, it just becomes such an even more apparent obvious choice when it comes to managing your business numbers and books. I use them for a number of different things. Keeping track of income and expenses, but also invoicing too. They make it really easy, and less than thirty seconds you can literally create a professional looking invoice if you're billing anybody. They also help you keep track of who pays and who hasn't even opened that invoice that you sent them yet. It's really, really handy and I recommend them highly. Head on over to FreshBooks.com/AskPat and make sure you enter “AskPat” in the “how did you hear about us?” section, to get a 30 day free trial. How awesome is that?
All right. Now here's today's question from Vitaliy.
Vitaly: Hello Pat. My name is Vitaliy. I'm from Philadelphia. I have a question about your SPI Pro Theme that you're selling. Why would you recommend your theme over another theme? I do understand this is the same layout as you had before, but what's the pros and cons of your theme compared to other themes. Either on ThemeForest or StudioPress. Thanks a lot, bye. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to online business. Thanks.
Pat Flynn: Hey Vitaliy, thank you so much for the question and for bringing up the SPI Pro Theme. If you're listening to this and you've never heard of this before, that's actually a theme that is for sale, that is the previous version of my website, partnered with StudioPress.com, which sells many, many different kinds of themes. We decided to work with them to sell my old theme because a lot of people were asking for it. I didn't want to sell it at the time because that was my theme, but I've since moved on to a more customized design, but that theme served me very well for years. I'm happy to distribute it, and hundreds of people have it now, which is really cool.
It runs on the Genesis framework. That makes it really handy and easy to use. That's why I prefer it over many other different kinds of frameworks, but more than that it's proven, it just looks great, it's very customizable. I'm not going to be here to pitch it really, really hard. You can all go to AskPat.com/SPITheme if you actually want to see what it looks like. Other than that, the theme of your website, which I want to talk about a little bit, what's cool about it is you can keep changing it over time and even with the one that you have, you can tweak it as you go, customize it. That's the cool thing about WordPress specifically. You have a lot more customization options, plus the plugins and things.
But the reason I like the SPI Pro theme is because it's served me well in terms of providing people a way to see everything I had going on. It's just laid out in a very nice fashion that really quickly, when somebody comes to your website, for example, you have only about seven to ten seconds to tell them exactly why they should stick around, or else they're going to leave. It's very easy to just click exit or hit the back button. There's some really clear and distinctive elements of this particular theme that you'll see, that allow you to really show people, quite quickly, what you're podcast or your blog and or videos are about. Big bold headers just right at the top. You can kind of smack them in the head with this is the site that you need to be on. Plus the navigation through a lot of the different pieces of content is great, and it's just easy on the eyes. Simple to use. I would recommend it, highly. I wouldn't have partnered with StudioPress if I didn't want that to be in people’s hands, so go ahead and check it out AskPat.com/SPItheme and you'll see it there. I hope it serves you all well.
Thank you so much for the question. I wish you all the best. Vitaliy, you're up in Philly, and we're going to give you an AskPat t-shirt for having your question featured here in the show. Just like we do for everybody who has their question featured here on the show. If you have a question and you want to ask it and maybe get it featured and maybe get a t-shirt, head on over to AskPat.com. You can ask right there, directly on that page.
Thank you so much, I appreciate you. Also FreshBooks hooking it up for everybody. 30 day free trial at FreshBooks.com/AskPat. Again, make sure you enter “AskPat” in the “how did you hear about us?” section.
