I love when I get book recommendations from SPI readers! That's how I came to read Never Eat Alone and I'm so glad I did. I know how important relationships are to success in business and in life, and that makes Keith's book a must-read, especially if you go to conferences.
One of the things I loved most about this book is its emphasis on forming genuine connections. Rather than just meeting people to get ahead, Keith focuses on the importance of getting to know people, expressing generosity and kindness, with the understanding that it'll come back to reward you in one shape or form later on. Beyond creating those genuine connections, I think this book helped me most by getting me to more thoroughly understand the motivation of people who may be trying to reach me and attract my attention. It's helped me understand who is doing it right: those individuals who care wholeheartedly about the relationship; and it's helped me understand who is doing it wrong: those who only care about the size of my audience or the potential exposure they may get. By knowing this, I have the mental tools to better chose with whom I should spend my time.
