Pat,
I’ve been thinking about this quite a bit lately–my goal is to have a full-time passive/ residual income from online (niche sites, ebook, affiliate sales, content articles, eHow) and offline (rental house) sources by the time I am 30 so that I can spend more time with my kids, travel as a family, and not have to worry so much about making ends meet.

Hi Pat, I always decided that my goal was to retire early which I think has made me really understand what I need to do to make it happen (as well as paying off the house). Just that little bit each day gets me closer to where I want to be. On the subject of exercise, I have lost 5kg in the space of three months so that is pretty awesome. Oh, and I reached 100 subscribers the other day. I hope our adventures continue like this, it's a pretty awesome time of my life right now. This is a great reminder for all of us trying to build up passsive income. I know that I have recently sat down to write up my goals for 2009. I have tried to focus on making the goals as specific as possible.

Great illustration, Pat. Sometimes it's easy to just be vague and say, "I want to make more money." But you are right, being that vague will make it much harder to decide how to go about achieving your goal. I totally agree that having a concrete plan (with numbers and all) is one of the many keys to having success...I for one am all about the power of actual numbers--it gives you something to work towards!
