I guess the key benefit of outsourcing when it goes right is leverage. Soloprenures and small business owners stand to benefit a great deal for such a wonderful opportunity especially if it is affordable, and doesn’t end up becoming a liability.

Wow, great article Pat! Thanks for taking the leap and realizing just how valuable a VA can be to almost any enterprise. As a VA “matchmaker” I spend a great deal of my time repeating those same sentiments. I also appreciated Eric’s comments about finding the “right” VA. When you work with a VA it is very much like having a business partner (in a limited way.) Finding the right match is extremely important. There is a VA for virtually any area of your business in which you need help. Not just web design and SEO- but accounting, real estate, travel/ event planning, article writing, etc. For all of you who have been considering a VA but haven’t taken the plunge, there are thousands of highly qualified folks out there just waiting to help you experience the kinds of productivity leaps that Pat has experienced.

My first site I built all myself and it took forever since I also have a day job which usually has longer hours than 9-5… so for my latest niche project I am using VA’s through Odesk: one to do link building, one to write/edit articles based on detailed outlines I prepare incl keywords to optimize for and I expect to hire another one soon to do some web design/programming. Using odesk you can get some labourous tasks done very fast and at excellent prices. But just make sure you spend time selecting your VA as often you do get what you pay for (or not if you go cheap)

These new and upcoming freelance websites are very exciting. As a web designers and graphic designer I hope to build my personal portfolio through a few of these sites.

The great thing is during this economy many people want to try to save money by using freelance designers. At the same time, many people are out of work and are counting on freelance jobs to have some income coming in. It also will improve their portfolio to obtain that killer job once the economy does turn around. Sounds like a win win for all!

Although I hope to bid on some projects at 99design.com in the near future, I hope to place a project on there so I can have the full experience!
