In this session of the Smart Passive Income Podcast, I do something a little different and give detailed answers to some of most commonly asked questions. I’m doing this for a number of reasons:

First, I’ll be able to help more people who may have these very same questions. Instead of answering each person individually, I can address everybody, including those who have yet to ask the same questions, or those who may be too shy or scared to do so.

Secondly, as a result, it’ll help me save time because it may reduce the number of emails I get, and if I do get these questions in my inbox, I can just reference this podcast session.

And lastly, these are just some really good questions that provide excellent content for the podcast.

The Questions

Actually, I was only able to get to 4 out of the 10 questions I originally wanted to cover in the session, which means I get pretty detailed with some of the answers. Here are the questions that I talk about today:

Question #1:

(02:05) Hey Pat! I hope you can answer this one for me.  I have read and listened to everything I can get my hands on for the past few months… and the more I know, the more apparent it is to me that I don’t understand some of this stuff.  For example: I want to purchase my domain names for my new businesses online and all of the formulas I have read about it are confusing and scary to me even though I have dived in and tried to figure it out.  Is there a super simple formula that a newbie can use for finding the “perfect” domain name?

Question #2:

(17:20) Pat – I have an eBook idea but I don’t have a blog or any type of online presence yet. What can I do to make my eBook successful?

Question #3:

(25:01) Pat – how do you make YouTube videos with the blackboard with your logo on it, and you writing live on top of it?

Question #4:

(29:38) How do I increase my Adsense earnings?

I’ve been doing a lot this past week as far as expanding the Smart Passive Income brand. I created a Facebook Fan Page, which has nearly 100 fans already. Today, I setup a YouTube Channel and decided to post my first video, which I’ve embedded here on the blog for you below.

Part of branding is staying consistent with how you present yourself and your products/blogs/business/whatever. So, in an effort to do this, I’ve tried to create some continuity in the web addresses where people can connect with me. Here are some examples below:

passive-residual-income-plans-futureI started this blog almost exactly one year ago. I was employed at that time and was planning on writing about how to make a decent side income while still working the 9 to 5, a job which I was actually enjoying despite 4 hours of travel each day (from San Diego to Irvine via train – yes, I was crazy).

I was making a few bucks on the side blogging about the LEED exam when I was hit with a layoff, like so many other people around the world. Instead of panicking or immediately searching for a new job, I took what I was doing somewhat successfully online and made it “what I do.” A year later, I can honestly say that my layoff was the best thing that has ever happened to me. I’ve been documenting what I’ve learned about internet business and passive income ever since on this blog for you.

I’ve recently noticed a lot of similarities between the Smart Passive Income Blog and my other blog before it became a cash cow. The website traffic is nearly the same, I’m ranking high in keywords that are important to the topic, the underlying purpose to help people is there, and also people are personally emailing me for help or advice nearly every day. All of these factors, in addition to possibly losing a major portion of my online income from my other blog due to recent changes in the industry, give me reason to take the Smart Passive Income brand to the next level. Another page in my life is about to turn. As you probably know, I’m getting married soon. VERY soon. Two days in fact, and so the last week has been one of the craziest weeks in my life. I’m really lucky to be earning passive income as my fiancee and I get programs printed, work on our party favors, glue place cards together, etc. I can’t really imagine how we’d get everything done if we were both working 9 to 5 jobs. If you got married while both you and your life partner were working full time jobs, I commend you – I really do.

I’ll be in Hawaii next week as well (woo hoo!) on our Honeymoon. I’ll definitely show you some photos once I get back. Thusly, my traditional “monthly income reports” may be a few days late, and I apologize in advance for that. I think you understand. Click to continue…
