I thought I would do something a little different today as I work on a pretty beefy monthly income report for Monday’s post.
I want to give you, the SPI reader, an opportunity to share the bloggers and online entrepreneurs who you feel are doing extraordinary things and deserve some recognition.
Although I won’t be doing a tally and give out awards or anything like that, I thought it would be a great opportunity for all of us to see who is making an impact in the blogosphere, and why.
To keep this open ended and interesting, I’ll provide you with a sentence and you can fill in the blanks with any category and the person who you’re giving recognition to.
Use the category to tell us why we should pay attention to the person you are “nominating”.
Please keep it clean and positive, and any defamatory or discrediting remarks will immediately be deleted.
You can recognize as many people as you wish (put them all in the same comment field), and please do not nominate me or yourself for anything.
Spread the love yo!
Here’s the sentence:
For the category of (name of category), I nominate (name of person and/or website).
I’ll start…
For the category of best and most engaging community on the web, I nominate the SPI community.
How about you?

Is it wrong to have payed so little attention that I wouldn’t even know where to start?
I’ve always wondered that as I eliminate the unnecessary, passively watching stuff has gotten a big ax. Will this lead to not being able to understand your customers? Will not having a knowledge base that everyone else seams to share lead to problems?
So far it’s been great. Though sometimes I wonder.
This is just going to be a huge self promotion thread.
This community’s not like that bro. But you could do it if you wanted.
So far you are incorrect, my friend!
I think the community here really does admire and heed advice some others. Instead of just thinking they know it all.
That’s why I keep coming back! Learn from Pat, learn from others.

For completely changing the economic landscape and creating limitlessness opportunities for millions of people, I’m going to nominate… Google!
They didn’t invent the internet, the didn’t invent the search engine, they didn’t invent online advertising, pay-per-click ads or online publishing or …much of anything. They just did all of it BETTER. Even if your online business has nothing to do with SEO or search, chances are there is something that Google did that made it all possible.
Likewise for Microsoft. We like to take these big companies to task for mistakes they make in the market place, but when I think about what financial opportunities and tools (and toys) I had 35 years ago (yes, there were people back then) compared to NOW I’m blown away.
Microsoft, love ‘em or hate ‘em, made computers ubiquitous. Google made things easy to find on the internet.

For the category of Giving Away the Secret Sauce I nominate Kelvin from http://www.mypassiveincomestream.com/
A failed self-promotion and traffic drive by Pat. How about a testimony drive instead. After 3+ years of this site. And Pat earning $30K per month. How many readers of SPI can honestly say they increased their income by $5K per month just from Pat’s tips? Or even $1K per month after all these years? Sites like these are nothing but a show of money and celebrity. Everyone who wants to make as much as Pat reads this blog. Does anyone end up making even 10% as much as Pat after learning all his tips and tricks? I highly doubt it. I’m here for the same reason people read perezhilton.com. I like watching proud celebrities get rich from their really dumb followers.
Quite frankly, I’m HIGHLY offended by your comment. You can talk about me all you want, but when you call my followers dumb, that crosses the line.
Don’t worry, we don’t actually listen to people like this Pat.
I just started reading your site a couple of weeks ago and it has already motivated me to start looking a little harder into affiliate income. Thanks. Maybe I can make $5000-$7000 a month like I am now without putting in 60-70 hour weeks, lol.
Wow, what a really dumb comment by this Rob guy. I can’t speak for others, but because of the Niche challenge and advice from Pat on niche sites I went from making $0.00 online to almost $1,500 extra a week. This did take a little while, but now my niche sites are taking care of my car and my mortgage. I can back it up with all the prove in the world as well.
People need to keep in mind that making money from Pat’s tips isn’t the only reason to read this blog. Some of the greatest entrepreneurs in the world got their start by listening to someone else and having an idea or some type of inspriation hit them from listening to someone else. Maybe someone picked up some insight that helps them to push past the one thing stopping them from starting a business. In return, now this person moves forward and is able to start to create the future he wants.
If the people here were only here for money many of us would have left. We come here for the community, the advice, the truth, inspiration and to share with one another the journey we all take.
Josh you are so right. I find Pat to be very inspiring and it’s not just about learning to make money why I stop by either. I love that the community is so positive and supportive and no matter what, they just keep trucking on with their businesses. So, it’s not just Pat who inspires me, the guests that he interviews and the readers who share their stories do too. Like yours Josh. I just visited your blog. Keep it up.
Pat you didn’t had to make a reply. We know about the quality and motivation you share and how you help people to achieve their dream. Just ignore these dumb comments and carry on. You know your followers are not dumb.
I agree with you Jane.
To elaborate a bit, Pat amazes me every time with his detailed and interesting posts be it his video tutorials or earning reports. There is so much quality is out here on SPI.
I have personally benefited much from this site and implemented his tips and can clearly see the advantages on my own blog.
And,last but not least, even if folks are making 10% of what Pat makes , it’s still lots of money because it’s smart passive income
Thanks Pat for constantly enriching the internet with your new-age blog marketing tips and tricks.
Wow.
You spent 10 minutes of your time to troll Pat’s site that could’ve been spent writing a blog post or earning YOUR OWN PASSIVE INCOME? Maybe you should use the time you spend trolling and surfing perezhilton to put Pat’s tips into practice and live a more worth-while life.
Time != money, but money does equal freedom. In the time it took me to write this, I probably earned $1.50 cents. This post took about 2 minutes to write. Do the math. I pretty much got paid to write this response. How much did you make?
I just discovered Pats site about 3 weeks ago [wish I had a long time ago] and I used to think that most everyone giving out tips on all this internet hype was just in it for the money. I just began blogging and and the information and tips that I have gathered from here in the short while that I have been a part of this community has been both an asset and an inspiration. He hasn’t tried to sell me anything and I don’t get those irritating are you sure you want to leave pop ups. He has been totally transparent with everything and I believe that says a lot about the integrity of a person and this has made me respect him more for doing so.
If you wanted to read a good book you would go and buy it. To get a college education you would have to pay for it. The shoes on your feet used to be an idea, the clothes that you wear, someone designed.
What I am saying here is that nothing is free?
Someone has invested their time, energy and resources into bringing us the things that allow us to live comfortably on a daily basis. Isn’t it only right that we should acknowledge that person with a vote of thanks and show our appreciation for a job well done.
I am just discovering that to write a good piece a lot of time has to be invested. I’ve been up till the wee hours of the morning sleeping at least 3 hours a day for the last 2 weeks just to try and get my blog up and balance that with my workload and a family. Pat has allowed me to learn all that I can [ at no charge] from the trinkets he has shared and the tips on writing epic content is what’s inspired me to press on.
Now, when the time does come and I have the finances to sign up for one of his courses I will gladly do so. Both for my thirst for knowledge and more-so as a token of my appreciation and a vote of thanks.
Keep up the great work Pat and do not be deterred by someone who still hasn’t discovered himself.
Honestly I would put money on the fact that there would be a lot more positive testimonials than you might very well think. In my 33 years on God’s green earth I’ve never been known to be a kiss ass, I don’t need to be, but I do feel it’s necessary to say that Pat is merely leading by example and teaching a lot of people some very valuable things along the way, I don’t see any shame in that.
I almost feel guilty even taking the time to reply to your negative comment, but I just felt it needed to be said.
Hey Rob, this is not my blog and I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But I just want to say (I’ve never told anyone before) that after reading Pat’s backlinking post, I have followed it to the T and make way more than the $5K you suggested as a result of ranking several sites in the #1 spot for various keywords.
Not here to pick sides or baffle anyone but just want to say that Pat is doing a great job with his blog here. Not everyone will like what he does but I can really say that he his helping a lot of persons and to me is income reports are a great motivation.
Peace to everyone.
And so why do you come to SPI? You obviously come here often since you seem to know about his earnings and how long he’s been online.
Hi Rob… I send many of Pat’s post to my team members– I can safely say that Pat has increased our revenue by 1K monthly (it’s tough to say specifically, but posts like his backlinking strategy have had a huge impact on our business). His specific tips have made us thousands for sure. My company currently generates 100K monthly and I can say Pat’s tips are invaluable to us.
I’d also like to think I’m not dumb… but I suppose the jury is out.
Gee Rob,
You sound like a pretty unhappy person. Stop reading blogs and get yourself a life coach, confidant, or maybe a therapy appointment. Besides good tips and techniques, what I gain most from reading Pat’s blog and watching him is inspiration. Everything he is doing is from sweat equity, trial and error, ACTION! (have you taken any lately?).
But really, I try to avoid people like you who I classify as “Negative Energy”. I literally feel tired, drained and sad after interacting with your type, which I avoid like the plague. Get a life, and I mean that in a nice way.
While some doubters are busy being entertained, some of us in the community are busy populating the internet with useful or entertaining content that adds value for our own communities. And increasing our income as well. Thank you for being a non-competitor.
Hey Rob;
Whenever I see a comment like this, I always start from the assumption that can be value in what someone says (even if it is expressed poorly or stated rudely).
So – if I break this down, I see a couple of points.
1. This post is just link-bait. It probably will generate traffic, but there is a lot of value in the comments (as Pat intended). I already just discovered Crystal from http://www.budgetinginthefunstuff.com/ from this post.
2. The idea that people think that reading Pat’s blog will create instant wealth. I don’t think so. The whole point of this blog is that Pat does stuff and reports what happened (honestly). People read Pat’s blog so they can decide what to try and avoid stuff that does not work. The fact that Pat is making $30K+ means that he is pretty good at picking stuff that works for him.
Pat’s readers want to “get better” at stuff. They read Pat because they trust him and because he is proven that he can help them. That makes them smart, not dumb.
If I wanted to learn to be a neurosurgeon, I would seek out a teaching doctor with a proven track record in teaching and brain surgery. But that would not guarantee that I would be a great neurosurgeon.
3. Pat is like Perez Hilton — this is my FAVORITE. Clearly, Pat is nothing like Perez. If Pat had Perez traffic, he’d be making a lot more than $30K. Plus Perez went to school on the East Coast — and Pat is all Cali all the way.
So, Rob, I respectfully disagree with every word of your comment.
Mark (Smart SPI Reader)
Great points! I used this one post to discover several new, great sites. I hope to see you around at BFS, Mark.
Thanks Pat for this! I have met a bunch of new people here and at my site thanks to you. Have a great week!
You are an ass! You know, the reality is that it does not happen overnight for everyone, myself included. It is through hardwork now learning from guys like Pat, Chris Guthrie, Dan Andrews and Ian and others that I am piecing together a system of affiliate and physical product sales that will eventually make a decent earning. Just because Pat happened to do an excellent job at monetizing his blog and podcast faster than you is no reason for you to be a jerk. Is he supposed to make it all happen for you? No sir, everyone goes through life on their own. If it were not for the group of guys mentioned above and a select few others, I would really have sunk a huge amount of wasted time and money into this endeavour with nothing to show. It is still a little slow going since I am not a coder, but through all the quality info and tips I have been able to piece together a nice plan that should pay off. You sir are an ungrateful, spiteful jackass and should be banned. He actually holds himself up to ridicule from jealous assclowns like you and you have to go and prove you are an assclown!
Nominations
Pat Flynn – Truth in Advertising Award
Chris Guthrie – Truth In Affiliate Marketing Award – (it is hard work, not easy)
Dan and Ian – Telling Me How Bad My Ideas Were Award (and saving
me a lot of time, money and heartache)
Dan and Ians Coaching is Worth The Money
James Martell – Best Affiliate Marketing Podcast
DUDE thanks!
Pat is not getting rich from the community of people who read this blog. I haven’t one seen him try to monetize the traffic of this site. So far he’s provided highly valuable information absolutely free.
Wow…you admit to reading perezhilton.com? Now that is dumb!
Sorry that you have failed in life. Rob, keep enjoying salting the fries at McDonalds.
I’ve been reading this blog back from the start when Pat didn’t even have 100 readers and he was making money back then. If you read his blog you would know that he makes money from sources other than his readers.
Rob is a troll. Not worth dignifying with a response. Move along, folks….nothing to see here.
For the category of Deals Blog I nominate Jessica at http://www.savemoneywithmeonline.com because I honestly feel like she is passionate about it, and I’ve gotten some great stuff for cheap.
For the category of Trader blog I nominate The Fly at http://www.ibankcoin.com.
the category of Transparent Trader blog**
^^^ LOL @ Rob, (the other Rob) I agree 100% with your post.
You ALL need to check out ES5.com (yeah, even you Pat)
Til then, good luck my friends
Rob I learned something from Pat the first time I interacted with him.
If you feel you can’t ever learn anything from anyone else in this life then you’re either pretty smart or much more likely pretty dumb.
Good luck with your life Rob.
My thoughts about Rob’s comments above.
It’s Irrelevant .
2 reason why we read or listen to Pat
1. the guy has made it in what we would love to acheive
2. If I can even make a extra $1 it’s worthwhile our time.
Yes, Pat does self promote. He does understand the power of that, but he also understand that we are intelligent enough to make our own decisions.
Yes we are followers but you must be a good follower before you can become a great leader.
Just my 2cents worth…
Mike S
Rob is a loser!
Pat Flynn is amazing. Sorry Pat, I haven’t bought anything from you…..yet, but I have LEARNED more from you than ANYONE else on the web. I am sure I will purchase something someday.
Keep up the great work!
Rob, go away.
I like to mention Christian from smartboydesigns.com/ Hey was recently nominated for the Influential blogger on SmallBizTrends.
Rob, actually I’ve made significant life decisions based on the information I’ve read in the SPI blog.
Am I buying a panama hat and heading for a luxurious life on the beach?
Nope.
Am I working on it?
Yep.
Have I made great strides toward my goals.
Yep.
Am I stumbling and struggling times.
Yep.
And the way I see it that’s doing it… being out there living life.
The alternative is being a spectator commenting (often erroneously) on the lives of others.
My nomination is http://www.productiveflourishing.com/. Charlie has created some of the best “working/getting stuff done” planners I’ve used.
I like this thread because it listed some other sources and interesting reads that, believe it or not, I haven’t heard of. I don’t even do anything online for making money but I find Pat and others in the “social media, marketing, etc.” realm interesting. Thanks all! Keep posting. (Except for you Rob) Keep doing what you do Pat! If people don’t like it then they don’t have to read it or follow.
For personal finance I vote for Ramit over at iwillteachyoutoberich.com. I especially like how he talks about automating smart decisions so you don’t have to worry about them later (very much like the putting the work in now mantra over here).
On benefiting from Pat’s writing, I’ve been motivated by his writing and used his productivity tips to meet the extra $1k/month criteria Rob listed. Even though I’m not a blog or niche site business, I find Pat writes articles that teach me a great deal.
Great topic idea Pat, I’m continually amazed by how you do things that really get people involved..
