This is a great e-Book how to writing series. You could’ve sold this content as an e-Book in its right, but instead you have generously decided to give it away for free. I will be reading this content in detail as I prep for my own e-Book(s). One/two question(s), though- how do you ensure that people don’t just go and buy one e-Book copy from you, then give it away to everyone else? Or republish the content after spinning it?

the tip about ending the day with a project unfinished really works. I’ve done that in construction for a long time. You start on something at the end of a day, and then when you start the next morning you tap into the mental work you already did yesterday. That way you don’t start cold. It really works.

Hey Howie,

That’s completely up to you. Once you start veering away from 50-50, however, there are some power issues that could come about because of “whoever owns more share”, and decision making could potentially be difficult to undertake if the agreements about decision making and stuff like that are not completely understood by both parties right off the bat. Very important.

However, since you’re the primary contributor and the idea man behind it, you could offer a lower percentage if you feel that’s appropriate. I mean, you’ll have to divvy up the work and see exactly what he’s contributing to the product. How much is his “marketing potential” worth too? There’s a lot to think about.

On a side note, it’s pretty standard to offer a 50% affiliate commission no matter who it is, so if you offer that to your partner as well, he might not see it as being any better than any other affiliate offer.

I’m not sure how involved your partner will be, but what you said about letting is earnings be a result of his ability to sell is good.

Pat, I have a question, and you were the only one I could think of to approach about it.

I’ve done a substantial amount of writing for my eBook…it has been turning out awesome!

I have been ‘crunching numbers’ and different scenarios, and I deemed it a good move to form a strategic partnership with another writer: We are both the 2 leading contributors to the platform the eBook will be tailored towards. Not only is he a great writer, but this arrangement has some very awesome upside ‘marketing’ potential, as well. “Learn from the 2 top contributors/highest earners/etc”……

Anyway….My question is….I know you didn’t have a ‘partner’ for your eBook, but, what do you think would be a realistic revenue share percentage? I know this could vary on many factors…..but, if I relinquished 30% (just a number)….and created a generous affiliate program (40-50%)…..he could easily walk away with 70-80% of the profit on books he actually sold, right?…..After clickbank takes out fees, it seems like it would be in my best interest to offer a lower percentage, and let that be complemented by his ability to sell (joining the affiliate program)…..

Does that kind-of, sort-of, make sense?
