Hey Pat,

I beg to differ. Right now, I have no money to give anyone. At the same time I am drained, but I do know how to do everything. Writer/photog, layout.

Also, I have read traditional business owners had to pound the pavement themselves and do everything Then when success hits, they get people to do all the jobs they did as one person. You were not stupid to do everything yourself. It doesn't matter that you lost $1800 initially. You got your money back triple!, Right!

When you start out, unless you have money to spare, getting someone to do the work, just ain't gonna happen. Its all success to me!

I have an article on this
http://www.ehow.com/how_4623492_pot-ehow-twitter-via-groups.html

While very small to you all, this was MAJOR to me. I did not hire Chris for this he did it and I promo'd him in the article and on a group.

It was great experience and I am thinking larger scale now. With this blog article you have made some great points. Although I don't' think I could pull 7K for any ebook that I could write.

Man, is this a timely post. I have tried for two weeks to get a Wordpress blog up and running, but I am chasing my tail. I would be very interested in finding someone who could get me going, but I have to admit, I am a little worried about the security. This may be a cover up for being a huge control freak though! Thanks for the blog, Pat, I check it every day. You have been an inspiration.

@ Studenomics,

You've made a great point! It's ok to do a few things, but to try and be great at everything is nearly impossible. It's much easier to be the expert at the one or two things you do, and leave the rest to the other experts. Happy Thanksgiving!

I had done everything on my blog and believe me it is very time consuming. Now I am at the point where I am willing to leave some things to the expert, such as graphic or theme design. The problem with trying to do everything yourself is that there are experts for a reason. I would rather be great at one thing than good at a few things.

<abbr><em>Studenomics´s last blog post..<a href="http://studenomics.com/2008/11/26/are-you-cash-strapped-just-before-the-holidays/" rel="nofollow">Are You Cash Strapped Just Before the Holidays?</a></abbr></em>

@ Andy,

Well, I think I would of even paid someone to design my first blog if 1) I knew I could of done that, and 2) how much time I could of saved - regardless of how successful the blog would be. I think I would of been able to at least pass my test a lot earlier.

It’s true, however, that if I did know about it, I still would of had that “I want to know what’s going on at all times” feeling. The second time around, I knew I had total control even though I wasn’t involved in the details.

Let us know when your sites are finished!

Good points. I agree with you mostly but in reality would you have paid someone else to do the hard work on your original blog - probably not because you didn't realise how successful it was going to be. If that was a given, then you'd have done it - but at that point in time, you didn't know.

As it turns out it did so that now you wanted a second site up and running, you easily had the money to set it up, and also the confidence that it would succeed too.

I'm in the process of getting my custom site up and going but I know that once that becomes successful and I want my second site up and going, I will pay someone else to do it - just not this time.
