I’m really excited to share an amazing and inspiring interview with Mike & Quoc of Free The Apps, an extremely successful iPhone app development company that I’ve actually paid a lot of attention to since their start, primarily because Mike & Quoc are two of my good friends from high school.
I knew they were doing really well since picking up their iPhone App Guide, but up until recently I had absolutely no idea how successful they actually were. I saw them in a recent article on Elance.com that blew my mind which is exactly why I had to get them here to share their story with you today.
All I have to say is that I couldn’t be more proud of what my friends have accomplished. They saw an opportunity, went with it, and created a life changing passive income business as a result.

- SPI 006 : 6 Hurdles I Encountered When Starting My Online Businesses and Exactly How I Overcame Them (coming soon!)
Three months ago, I started an extreme home fitness program called P90X. Last night, I celebrated the end of it and am happy to share my results with you today.
For those of you who don’t know, P90X is an at-home fitness program that requires you to workout everyday for about an hour, for 90 days straight. There are no machines or fancy training equipment involved – it’s just you, gravity, and sometimes a chair, a pull-up bar, free weights or resistance bands.
I wasn’t exactly sure how well the program would work for me, but I had to do something active since working from home and taking care of a child was starting to become synonymous with a growing gut and a lack of energy. I chose P90x because I had seen a friend have some success with it, and the infomercials were just too darn convincing.
Before I started, I made a conscious decision to really go all out with it – to strictly stick to the program so I could maximize my results and follow the nutritional plan as close as humanly possible. I was offered to use a friend’s copy of the program, but I declined because I knew that if I spent the money to buy it myself, I would me more likely to complete it, since I paid for it.

I almost gave up on this blog…several times.
Within the first 5 to 6 months, I wasn’t sure if it was going anywhere. There was hardly any traffic coming in and I was doubting whether not it was all worth it. I mean, I was spending 2 to 3 hours on each blog post to make sure it was great content and high-quality.
“Am I wasting my time?” was a constant thought in my head every time I pushed that publish button.
Then, on January 21, 2009 – someone influential wrote this post, which was all about me and this blog.
That day, I saw more visitors than every previous day combined…10x over.
I never asked this person to write about my blog, but he did…and it honestly changed my life.
Since that day, my traffic has grown and I haven’t looked back since. People are coming here to read what I write and listen to my advice.
So my advice to you today is this:
Keep at it and keep working hard to provide over-the-top, high quality content. It only takes one influential person, one moment, to change everything.

Exactly 12 hours after I posted my previous niche site duel update, my niche site took a giant leap from #117 in Google (where it was sitting for about 5 days), to #58, and now it’s sitting at #53. This was very encouraging because it means that my backlinking strategy is totally working, which is perfect timing because that’s exactly what I’m going to share with you today.

To quickly reiterate, backlinks (links from other websites to yours) are the key to moving up the ranks of search engines. The quality is far more important than the actual number of backlinks, so it’s our goal to get them primarily from sites that have a high Google Page Rank.

Backlinks, or links to your website from another, are the key to moving up the ranks of search engines.
What’s important to realize though is that it’s the quality of those backlinks that really matter, not the quantity. By quality, I mean backlinks from other websites that primarily have a high Google PageRank (PR).
To be honest with you, SEO is not my forte. After spending the last week or so reading some tremendously helpful threads on the Warrior Forum, specifically the 40 Day Challenge – Top 5 in Google Within 40 Days thread by Joseph Archibald (warning: it’s 19 thread pages long and literally sucked 6 hours of my time this past week reading the entire thing two times over – yes, it’s that good), I feel like I now know how I can intelligently increase my ranking in Google.

So we’re about 1 month into our niche site duel (since I was challenged), and things are starting to move.
I’ve posted the latest updates from the other participants on the niche site duel hub, so I definitely recommend checking that out because there have been a lot of recent updates and a lot of excellent content to take in.
Because I’m targeting a relatively more competitive niche than my other niche sites (and my niche duel competitors), it will take me a little longer to reach the first page. Plus, I’m doing most of the work myself, and I don’t have a team of VAs working for me like the other guys.
