I’m sorry I’ve been away from the blog for a few days. With the holidays, wedding planning, finding an apartment, and the launch of my audio book all happening at the same time, you can imagine I’ve been a busy bee. I just finished working on 150 or so wedding invitations, and I’m beat. That being said, writing on this blog is a wonderful break from all of that, where I can discuss with you some things that may inspire and teach you whatever it is you take away from it.
So, you may be drawn to read this post via the title: How I lost $10,000 and what to do to avoid this. A more appropriate title may be: How I missed out on $10,000 and what to do to avoid this. Let me explain… Click to continue…
Do you want a poor website? Of course not. We all want to make our websites the best websites they can be. We all want them to grab more attention, catch more subscribers, and increase our sales and popularity.
In a previous post, I talked about how I spent just 5 minutes to change my “buy it now” button, which this increased my book sales by almost 25%. The new button I used was proven to work because it was “split tested” with a multitude of other buttons with different sizes, shapes and color combos.
To recap, a split test is a test that involves showing different variations of something to equal amounts of different and random people. The test will determine which variation does better than the others.
Like I said before, companies will spend millions of dollars to do these types of tests using a number of focus groups and analysts – it’s ridiculous. Thanks to Google and the power of the internet, we can do this with ease for free. Click to continue…
It just turned midnight here in California, and I wanted to just wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday. Please stay safe, eat lots of good food, and most importantly, enjoy the time you spend with your family and friends.
I’ll give the money stuff a rest today, and simply provide you with some really cool links of things that I’ve been enjoying online recently, from videos, to blogs and other interesting things you may not know about.
Enjoy your day, and I promise I’ll get back into the juicy stuff about passive income and lifestyle design very soon. Click to continue…
So, I’m playing around with my new podcasting equipment, and I thought to myself, why don’t I just do a short recording and post it for my readers. So…here it is.
Really, it’s nothing special. I just wanted to familiarize myself with my new toys, and see what it’s like to record something and post it online. I’m really excited about starting some sort of podcast in the future, and here you are witnessing my very first recording. Yay! I’m glad I could share it with you today. Click to continue…
So, I was on my way to bed, and I just happened to notice a three digit number in the RSS counter at the top of my blog…I reached 100 subscribers! You’ve helped me meet my goal, which I mentioned in my November earnings report, of reaching 100 subscribers by January 1st – with time to spare! I can’t thank you enough for your support.
Here’s a screenshot for proof, because I know the numbers of readers fluctuate up and down each day. Also, I could photoshop this to say I have 100k readers, so I guess it’s not totally foolproof, but hey – this is probably more for my own amusement: Click to continue…
A very wise person once said, “assume nothing, test everything.” This is what Ryan Deiss of drivetraffic.com did, as he created 43 different “split-tests” and came up with the best ways to optimize all different parts of a website for monetization.
In business terms, a split-test is defined as a “Direct-marketing test utilizing random samples drawn from a single list.” Ehh, that makes sense, I guess, but here is my definition of split testing online:
Creating multiple variations of a single webpage, where each variation of that single webpage has but one difference, to show which variation(s) convert better. Click to continue…
Hi, my name is Pat, and I have a problem. Actually, let me correct myself – I had a problem. Do you ever think about the money you spend, no matter when or where, as hours of work down the drain? When I was working 9 to 5, this was a huge problem for me.
Every time I’d spend money, I would calculate in my head how many hours of work it actually took to make that money, and usually I’d end up with a stomach ache or just plain depressed. For example, when I bought my iMac computer, I calculated that it would take me about 15 days of work to cover the costs after taxes. That’s half an entire month dedicated just for my computer. Then I’d think about how that would impact the rest of my budget and how I could possibly work overtime to make up some days – it was terrible. I literally got sick to my stomach. I was too worried about how much time I spent to even enjoy my new purchase. Click to continue…
Every once and a while I’ll come across a video on youtube that I’ll want to share with you, usually because it’s contains some valuable information. Here is the first one, and it’s a great lesson given by Perry Belcher about how he thinks Social Media should be used to make money:
I never want to hear anybody say that they cannot possibly come up with an idea for something to sell and succeed with online. The first rule of earning a passive income is: there is absolutely no room for pessimism. This is, of course, unless you’re thinking that the convertible might ruin your hair on the way to dinner.
To sell something online, you don’t have to be an expert at anything. I mean – what is an expert anyways? To many, an expert is just someone who knows more than they do. If you were to go to the bookstore today, pick up a book about fishing for rainbow trout in California, you’d become an expert in the eyes of someone who knows nothing about trout fishing in California. Have you ever started an exercise program, and the next day you were incredibly fit? I don’t think so. Along the same lines, have you ever learned a new method of making money, and the next day you were rich? Not unless you won the lottery.
As you may recall, I previously wrote about how I was using my new passive income streams to design my own lifestyle by getting back into the gym and actually hiring a personal trainer. I’m using the money I earn online, as well as the free time (because it’s passive), to design my own lifestyle and do things that would have been much more difficult to do while working a 9 to 5 job.
After my 3rd week of training 3 days a week, all I can say as I sit at my computer is…”I can’t move my legs…sweet.” Click to continue…
No, I'm not a millionaire, but I am living off of passive income made online. I'm here to show you what I've learned...
