Great blog btw.

I had the same addiction to news myself – reddit and drudgereport were my two biggest offenders.

One thing I found that reduces the need for self discipline in this area my friend wrote about on our blog here: http://www.becomeawesome.com/2009/10/26/how-to-increase-your-productivity-by-blocking-time-wasting-websites/

I did the above and cut it out of my life 6 months ago or so and I have no complaints about it anymore.

TV is definitely my addiction. With DVR though I can at least watch it when I want to and with no commercials. Although with pitchers and catchers reporting to spring training right around the corner, I’m sure I will be watching plenty of baseball. The good news is that I can be very productive while baseball is on in the background.

If you really don’t want to worsen a TV addiction then I recommend never watching 24. Jack Bauer is outstanding.

After reading 4 hour work week I completely stopped checking my google reader feeds. From digg, to news, I would have 300 new feeds a day that I would mindless glance over just to pass the time. I haven’t missed it a bit since I stopped.

I think TV is a waste of time if you’re sitting there and browsing just for the sake of watching TV, but with DVR these days if you’re looking to just watch Lost or some other show you want it’s so much more convenient because you can watch it on your own time and you don’t waste time with commercials so it’s definitely not as bad. =) wooo Lost tomorrow!

Ugh. TV. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted to cut the cable. My husband is a true TV addict.

I spend too much time on message boards – definitely a time waster for me. I also tend to be a perfectionist, so instead of actually doing stuff, I usually hem and haw about it quite a bit rather than just biting the bullet and getting started. That’s another big time waster for me.

TV is definitely my biggest time waster. I remember when I got married 2 years ago my wife and I would set down at our dinner table with the tv off and enjoy our dinner together. Now we plop down on the couch in front of the tv. I need to change this habit, as not only is it a time waster, but I think its starting to hurt our marriage. Time watching tv together, doesn’t really translate into spending time together.

I think the most distracting thing for me is YouTube, especially music videos – and it’s even worse if my guitar is nearby!
